What is Juvéderm®?
Juvéderm® is a family of injectable hyaluronic acid dermal fillers used to provide upto one year of correction for moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds (lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth).
What is Juvéderm VOLUMA®?
Juvéderm Voluma® is the latest of the Juvéderm® range of hyaluronic acid fillers FDA approved and specifically designed to restore volume in areas of volume loss for up to two years. Common areas include the cheeks, cheekbones, and chin. Additionally, due to its versatility it is also suitable for adding definition to the jaw line.
As we age, our skin loses its elasticity and volume, when collagen and elastin fibers begin to break down. Dermal fillers will plump thin lips, erase wrinkles, soften facial creases and smooth out shallow contours. Dermal fillers will also diminish the appearance of deep scars. While Juvéderm® may be the most recognized dermal filler, several other, effective dermal fillers include: Juvéderm®, Juvéderm Ultra®, Juvéderm Plus®, Restylane®, Perlane®, Radiesse®, Sculptra® and Prevelle Silk®.
Juvéderm® is a smooth, injectable gel filler made from hyaluronic acid (a naturally occurring substance in the body). It is effective for treatment of nasolabial folds and to enhance the size and shape of the lips. Offered in several variations, Juvéderm® works best for finer lines and wrinkles. Juvéderm Ultra Plus® is a thicker gel than Juvéderm® and is often more effective for re-volumizing wider areas and deeper lines in your face.
The final results of a Juvéderm® treatment will be visible within a few days. However, immediately after an injection of Juvéderm® you may see some swelling at the treated area, causing the area to appear more volumized.
Typically, you’ll enjoy the results of a Juvéderm® treatment for about nine months, but results may vary for each patient. Once the effects of a dermal filler have worn off, treatments can be repeated. Touch up treatments after six months will keep the treated area looking naturally rejuvenated.
These dermal fillers are injectable hyaluronic acid gels that add volume and fullness to the treated area. Restylane® is a natural, synthesized and fully degradable substance and requires no allergy testing prior to treatment. It is most commonly used to plump up lips. Perlane® differs from Restylane® in that the gel particles are larger than those in Restylane® and are therefore often more effective in treating deeper wrinkles and folds. As such, Perlane® can be injected as a base filler with Restylane® and Juvederm® added to enhance the overall natural appearance.
The effects of a Restylane® treatment are visible immediately, but you may experience swelling at
the treated area for a few days after your treatment.
Typically, a Restylane® treatment for fine lines and wrinkles will last up to 12 months and a Restylane® lip injection will provide noticeably plumper lips for approximately six months.
Radiesse® (formerly known as Radiance), a natural byproduct of human bones, is a mineral- like compound (calcium hydroxylapatite) made of calcium-based microspheres, that provide immediate volume and lift to the treated area of the face. This filler not only reduces wrinkles caused by loss of collagen, it stimulates the body’s collagen production for long-lasting results. Producing immediately visible results, Radiesse® injections are highly effective for reshaping the nose (non-surgical nose job), lifting nasolabial folds around nose and mouth, cheek augmentation, chin augmentation and hand rejuvenation.
Most patients see long lasting results with Radiesse® – as long as 12 months after treatment.
As you age and collagen production decreases, Sculptra® Aesthetic provides a restorative treatment that stimulates regeneration of your own collagen to re-volumize the treated area and rejuvenate your youthful appearance. Sculptra® Aesthetic, a new type of volumizing injectable, provides the most natural looking, subtle results with multiple injections applied gradually over a few months.
The re-volumizing effects of Sculptra® are gradual, because the product stimulates your own collagen growth, rather than immediately adding volume to the treated area. Patients may experience swelling immediately after the treatment which will subside in a few days. The results from the stimulated production of collagen will be visible within a few months after treatment.
The payoff for patients with the Sculptra® treatment process is long-lasting results. Typically, the final results can last as long as two years. Results may vary and patients might need occasional touch up treatments to sustain optimal results.
A liquid facelift is a non-surgical approach to a facelift where the physician uses FDA approved fillers in combination with BOTOX® treatments to rejuvenate the face. The Blush physician may use fillers such as Juvéderm®, Restylane®, Radiesse®, or Sculptra® to gently lift and contour facial features which can droop over time thanks to gravity. It can also reduce wrinkles and creases, to reveal a more rested and youthful you! A liquid facelift can fill in a hollow face, lift and contour the entire face or segments of the face (such as cheekbones), improve specific facial features such as the nose, or give you those plump, delicious lips you’ve always dreamed of (lip augmentation). A liquid facelift can accomplish many aesthetic goals and often works as an interim solution for the more invasive traditional surgical facelift.
Depending on the number of injection areas and the injectables used, the liquid facelift can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour.
The results are temporary and vary by patient and procedures performed as well as the products used. Hyaluronic acid-based fillers (Juvéderm® and Restylane®) can last from 6-12 months, while the semi-permanent fillers (Radiesse® and Sculptra®) can last up to 2 years. BOTOX® and Dysport® generally last up to 6 months. Depending on the injectables used and to maintain their overall youthful appearance, patients may come in for touch up procedures as the effects in specific treatment areas start to wear off. What can a liquid facelift do for you? Come in and talk to our Blush physician to see if you are a candidate!
The side effects and recovery time of a liquid facelift are minimal, since this is a non-surgical treatment. Most patients are able to return to work or their normal daily activities immediately after the procedure. Common side effects for most injectables can include localized discomfort, a mild inflammatory reaction, redness, itching and mild bruising. These symptoms disappear within a couple of hours or days, but visible side effects can be effectively treated with concealer.
Juvedérm® is an injectable facial filler used by dermatologists and plastic surgeons for the purpose of softening deep folds and reducing wrinkles. It is mainly composed of hyaluronic acid (HA), which is a substance normally found in the skin, muscles, and tendons of mammals. Hyaluronic acid binds and absorbs water, and the lack of this substance leads to dry and wrinkled skin.
Juvéderm® adds volume to skin, resulting in a more youthful look. As people age, the skin produces less HA which results in drier, thinner looking skin filled with wrinkles. Juvéderm® rejuvenates the skin by restoring volume and hydration, giving you a fuller and healthier complexion.
Juvedérm® is different from other fillers in that it is the only HA filler approved by the FDA to last up to a year. Juvéderm® is also manufactured using the unique Hylacross TM process which creates a very smooth consistency. Other HA fillers, on the other hand, have a granular consistency to them.
Juvéderm® is an injectable gel typically used for thin, shallow facial wrinkles and lines. Juvéderm Ultra Plus® is a thicker gel and is often used to add volume to larger areas and deeper lines in your face.
Juvéderm® has been highly successful in improving the look of these facial areas:
- Lip liner (lipstick lines)
- Frown lines
- Lines between the brows (aka, 1’s, 11’s, and 111’s)
- Smile/laugh lines (aka, “crow’s feet”)
- Cheeks (re-volumizing)
- Marionette lines
- Hollowness around eyes
- Pre-jowl sulcus (sagging skin on either side of the chin)
- Nasolabial folds (aka, “the parentheses”)
At Blush, our highly-trained clinicians use Juvéderm® to improve these aesthetic issues.
If you’re between the ages of 18-65 and have wrinkles/fullness issues with your face, then you are a good candidate for Juvéderm®. If you’ve lost some volume in your face, gained some wrinkles, or if you’re younger but want fuller lips, cheeks or a better defined chin, contact Blush. Our consultation is free and we’ll answer all of your questions and concerns.
Depending on the target areas and your specific requirements, the process can take anywhere from five minutes to an hour. Please allow some time to consult with your Blush clinician prior to treatment.
You will only feel a mild discomfort in the injected site. We do, however, offer topical creams and
the revolutionary Ouchless® Needle to further minimize your discomfort.
Some common side effects of Juvéderm® treatments include redness, soreness, tenderness, and swelling in the treated area for a short time. Other less-common side effects include bruising, itching and discoloration of the skin. As with all skin-injection procedures, there is a risk of infection.
Juvéderm® treatments typically last about nine months, but results may vary for each patient. Treatments can be repeated once the effects of Juvéderm® wear off, and touch-up treatments every six months will keep the treated area looking naturally rejuvenated.
Not really at all! Juvéderm® requires very little downtime, which makes it very convenient indeed! It is typically recommended that you avoid strenuous activity and excessive sun exposure for the 24 hours following the procedure. It is also recommended that you do not consume any alcoholic beverages for the next 24 hours.
