A smile is a girl’s best accessory; and nasolabial lines, more often called smile or laugh lines, can develop at any age. But, it is only when they begin to deepen and become more pronounced that they become a problem for some people. Below is a Q&A with Dr. Lamba on what you can do about nasolabial lines.
What Causes Nasolabial Lines?
All wrinkles are a result of a combination of factors. As you age, your facial muscles weaken and since facial expressions play a huge role when you smile or laugh, there’s a chance you will develop deeper laugh lines at a younger age. Some other general causes of nasolabial folds include sun damage and smoking.
How Can You Reduce the Sign Of Nasolabial Lines?
As we age, our skin loses its elasticity and volume when collagen and elastin fibers begin to break down. Dermal fillers are used to provide up to one year of correction for moderate to severe facial wrinkles, plumping facial creases and smoothing out shallow contours.
Which Dermal Filler Should I Use?
Juvederm is a smooth, injectable gel filler made from hylauronic acid that is a naturally occurring substance in the body. It’s effective for treatment of nasolabial folds and to enhance the size and shape of the lips.
How Long Does It Take To See Results?
The final results of a Juvederm treatment will be visible within a few days. However, immediately after an injection of Juvederm you may see some swelling at the treated area, causing it to appear more volumized.
How Long Does Juvederm Last?
Typically, you’ll enjoy the results of a Juvederm treatment for about nine months, but results may vary for each patient. Once the effects of dermal fillers have worn off, treatments can be repeated. Touch up treatments after six months will also help keep the area looking naturally rejuvenated.
How Long Does A Procedure Take?
Depending on the target area and your specific requirements, the process can take anywhere from five minutes to an hour.
How Do You Know If You’re A Good Candidate?
If you are between the ages of 18-65 and have wrinkles with your face, then you are a good candidate for Juvederm. At Blush, our consultation is free and we’ll answer all your questions and concerns.
Are There Any Side Effects of Juvederm?
Some common side effects include: redness, soreness, tenderness, and swelling in the treated area for a short time. Other less-common side effects include bruising, itching, and discoloration of the skin.
Is There Any Downtime After The Procedure?
Not really at all! Juvederm requires very little downtime, which makes it very convenient. It is typically recommended that you avoid strenuous activity and excessive sun exposure for the 24 hours following the procedure. It is also recommended that you do not consume any alcoholic beverages for the next 24 hours.
